Akinyele South Local Council Development Area, with Headquarters at Igbo-oloyin was carved out of the old Akinyele Local Government vide the amendment of the Local Government Law 2000 by the Oyo state House of Assembly, which was asserted to by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi.
Subsequently, staffs were deployed to the Local Council Development Area by the Local Government Service Commission in February, 2017.
The first Caretaker Chairman, Hon. Olumide Yakub Alli was appointed to take charge of the Local Council Development Area between the 7th April, 2017 – 29th May, 2019, while the present Caretaker Chairman in person of Honourable Ahmed Kazeem Adekunle was appointed on December, 2019.
